Introduction to Weaving

In this introduction to weaving workshop you'll create a woven artwork of your own. In this class you will you have the opportunity to learn new skills, develop techniques in warping the tapestry loom, learn a hem stitch, making tassels and incorporating unique materials within a design. Participants will develop and create a wall hanging tapestry. Participants are welcome to stay after their class to continue exploring their work in the textiles studio.

Skill Level: Beginner

Our textiles workshops accommodate diverse skill levels, welcoming novices intrigued by textile work and accomplished sewists/fibre artists aspiring to advance their techniques. This Course is an excellent BEGINNER course.

Your Instructor: 

Our experienced textiles instructors are passionate about sharing their expertise and guiding you through the journey of skill development and creative exploration through textile art, craft and design. With a deep understanding of the medium, they provide personalised instruction and feedback to help you achieve your artistic goals.

This course is taught by: Emma Enright

Emma Enright is a textile artist and designer from Hamilton, Ontario.  Her series of work investigates the materiality of textiles with a specific emphasis on weaving. Embodying traditional weaving techniques she creates contemporary hand woven artwork for interior spaces. Emma received her Bachelor of Design, with a major in textiles from Ontario College of Art and Design University. She continues to exhibit her work and teach textile workshops.

HCS Facilities and Equipment: Hamilton Craft Studios’ textiles facilities are designed to facilitate a diverse range of work. Our spacious studio is equipped with sewing machines, large cutting tables, and other essential tools to support your creative journey.
