Turning on the Lathe

Meet as a group for an introduction to wood turning on the Lathe. After your initial group session - which is primarily a lecture with demonstrations, you book a individual lesson times with the instructor. During your individual sessions you will work hands-on with the lathe and tools.

    Foundation Courses are an opportunity to dive deeper into woodworking by building furniture.  Students will gain hands-on experience cutting and fitting structural solid wood joinery and learn the techniques of experienced furniture makers to develop their accuracy, efficiency and patience.

    One session of in studio learning, led by a professional craftsperson, held in the wood studio. A two hour, 1-on-1 private lesson on the lathe, plus and additional booking for 2 hours of time on the lathe to continue practicing and learning.

    Sessions: 1 Group Session
    Hours: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
    Additional access:  1 Private Session + 1 Additional Lathe Booking, booked separately

    Skill Level: Beginner - Intermediate

    Our wood workshops accommodate diverse skill levels, welcoming novices intrigued by woodworking and accomplished woodworkers aspiring to advance their techniques.

    Materials and Supplies: All essential materials and tools for the workshop will be provided for use during the sessions. This includes wood, carving tools, finishing supplies, and various hand tools. Detailed information about materials will be shared during the course.

    Your Instructor: Our experienced woodworking instructors are dedicated to imparting their expertise and guiding you through the intricacies of working with wood. With extensive knowledge of various woodworking processes, they provide personalised guidance and feedback to support your creative journey.
