Course Description:
A four-week course in sparkle, shine, and showmanship. Participants will learn the fundamentals of costuming embellishment—stoning, bejewelling, and decorating garments and accessories to create stage-ready looks. The class covers design planning, material selection, and secure application techniques for rhinestones, sequins, trims, and other embellishments.

Students will design and make a small collection of accessories including a gauntlet, headpiece, and accent items. This course focuses on creative expression, attention to detail, and practical skills for performance, drag, and costume design.


Course Goals / Learning Objectives:

  • Learn design principles for costume embellishment.
  • Gain skill in stoning, beading, and trim application.
  • Understand adhesives, materials, and best practices for durable finishes.
  • Explore proportion, placement, and composition in decorative work.
  • Construct a set of accessories including a gauntlet and headpiece.
  • Develop creative approaches to personalizing performance pieces.

HCS Facilities and Equipment: Hamilton Craft Studios' well-equipped textile studio is designed to facilitate a range of fabric art. Our spacious and well-lit studio is equipped with sewing machines, cutting tables, dyeing facilities, and other essential tools to support your creative journey.
