Euro Hem Workshop: With Sequel Jeans!
Euro Hem Workshop with Sequel Jeans
Shorten your jeans and keep the original hem
Most jeans are too long, and a standard hem loses the worn, factory-finished edge that gives denim its character. A Euro hem shortens the leg while keeping the original hem intact, so no one can tell the jeans were altered. It is the method tailors use for denim, and it works on most jeans and many casual pants.
In this two hour workshop, Danielle from Sequel Jeans will walk you through the full process step by step:
- Measuring and marking the new length
- Folding and pinning the leg so the original hem lines up
- Stitching close to the original hem on the machine
- Trimming and finishing the excess fabric on the inside
- Pressing the new hem so it sits flat

Danielle has sewn her whole life. She started Sequel Jeans after finding that thrifted and vintage denim never fit the way she wanted, so she began altering it herself. Sequel Jeans now takes vintage denim and tailors it to fit each customer, with studios in Hamilton and Toronto. Danielle has fitted jeans for hundreds of people and brings that hands-on experience to this workshop.
