Textiles - Puffy Plants

This four-week beginner-friendly sculptural textiles course introduces participants to the world of soft sculpture through the creation of puffy, fabric-based plants. Students will explore sewing and sculpting techniques to create a felt fern, puffy fabric leaves, and hand-embroidered mushrooms while incorporating decorative techniques such as appliqué, hand stitching, and painting.
By the end of the course, students will have completed three unique fabric sculptures and will celebrate their work in a collective arrangement before taking their projects home.
All of the material costs are included in the price of the course.
Textiles courses include additional access to the textiles studio outside of class time, for the duration of your course. Your instructor will outline open studio times for course participants during your first session.

Dayna is a multidisciplinary artist working in ceramics, textiles and wood. Dayna’s work exhibits finesse with materials and diligent refinement. Her work is as much about the process of making as it is about the final product, an ever developing exercise in not limiting material and perpetually expanding her skill set while exploring craft. Dayna is a graduate of the Furniture, Craft and Design program at Sheridan College.
Materials and Supplies: All necessary materials and tools for the workshop will be provided for use during the sessions. This includes fabrics, sewing supplies, dyes, and various hand tools. Detailed information about materials will be shared during the workshop.
HCS Facilities and Equipment: Hamilton Craft Studios' well-equipped textile studio is designed to facilitate a range of fabric art. Our spacious and well-lit studio is equipped with sewing machines, cutting tables, dyeing facilities, and other essential tools to support your creative journey.
