    Stewardship & Community Care

All studio members, regardless of membership tier, are expected to contribute to the daily maintenance, cleanliness, and care of the studio. This includes regular studio cleanup, technician support tasks, mopping and member care. The Financial Track is designed for members who prefer not to contribute to drop-in supervision. It does not exempt anyone from general studio stewardship responsibilities.

Physical Support vs. Financial Support Tiers

At HCS, Emerging Artist and Full-Time Maker memberships include a choice between two tracks. Both offer the same level of studio access, storage, equipment use, and community benefits — but differ in how members contribute to the sustainability of the studio.

All members — regardless of tier — are expected to participate in daily clean-up, tool care, and general stewardship. No one is exempt from maintaining the shared spaces and machinery.

The difference between the two tracks is the required participation in drop-in coverage and structured studio support, which is built into the Physical Support Track only.
